Environmental Study

EnviroSolutions Cc has been appointed to by Namibia International Mining Company (Pty) Ltd (NIMC) to assess and review the potential environmental impacts associated with the envisaged power plant near Walvis Bay.  The plant will be located in the area zoned for heavy industrial activities behind Dune 7. 

We have looked at the technical presentation and it is expected that potential negative environmental impacts can be successfully mitigated with and effective environmental management plan.

Namibian Electricity Board

The Electricity Control Board of Namibia (ECB), www.ecb.org.na ,  has awarded NIMC a 20 year Electricity Generation licence.

The Electricity Control Board is a statutory regulatory authority established in terms of the Electricity Act, 2000 (Act 2 of 2000). The Electricity Control Board has the core responsibility of regulating electricity generation, transmission, distribution, supply, import and export in Namibia. In the execution of its statutory regulatory functions the affairs of the Electricity Control Board are managed by a Technical Secretariat headed by a Chief Executive Officer.

Nampower

NIMC has entered into favourable negotiations with Nampower for a long term Power Agreement.  The negotiations will conclude in a Power Purchasing Agreement, Connection Agreement and Transmission Agreement. Currently all  documents are being prepared incorporation with ABB and NIMC technical staff.

 

ABB South Africa and ABB Germany

ABB has offered NIMC a budget plan for a 68 megawatt oil fired Combined Cycle power Plant, CCPP. The budget offer includes Civils, Maintenance, Electrical works, Instument and Control and the GTG Package. This Turbine will fulfill the Phase 1 requirement for the Walvisbay Power Generation project currently in development.

 

NIMC - ISO 

NIMC has appointed XP Project , a South African Organisation to assist in creating the documentation for the ISO 9002 accreditation, a worldwide standard designed to help both product and  service-orientated organisations achieve internationally recognised and respected quality standards.  The accreditation will mean that NIMC complies with set standards and controls across all aspects of the business, including management, strategic direction, human resources, processes and systems, engineering, internal controls, outsourcing arrangements, measurement of actuals versus budgets, strategic initiatives, goals and plans, as well as compliance to standards and actions taken when non-compliance is noted. In order to maintain the accreditation, NIMC must be audited by the ISO auditors on a regular basis. The company needs to prove that the quality manual is continuously updated, that compliance is continually measured, and that regular internal audits are held.

Bio-Remediation - Regulations under USEPA

ERCO is unique in that it specializes only in the treatment of oily “solids” waste utilizing the method of Compost Bioremediation. This method allows for the decommissioning of oily solids through a natural process of hydrocarbon decomposition by microbial action. more....
